ABOUT PROYECTO TITÍ

Over 35 years of conservation results and permanent impact

Cotton-Tops forever

Proyecto Titi was founded to protect the critically endangered cotton-top tamarin, a one-pound monkey found only in the tropical forests of northern Colombia. Through public education and engagement, the protection and restoration of forest habitat, creating community empowerment programs and performing industry-leading field research, Proyecto Titi helps ensure the survival of critically endangered species and the biodiversity of our planet.

Proyecto Titi works in collaboration with regional environmental authorities, the Colombian government and local organizations to ensure the long term success of their climate and conservation work.

Local farmers are hired seasonally to help in the planting of saplings to restore old pastures into growing forests for cotton-top tamarins and wildlife.

Cotton-top tamarins feed from more than 50 different trees in the forest (mostly fruits but also nectar and sap), becoming important seed dispersers to keep their forest healthy.

We create permanent jobs for local communities in the management of the nursery where we propagate the native tree saplings we plant to bring back the forest that is home to cotton-top tamarins.
